Allergy Control Products

Sven Ullmann asked:
For allergy sufferers life can become miserable if they come into contact with whatever it is they are allergic to. Allergy control products in conjunction with allergy treatments or by themselves are effective in bringing relief to the allergy sufferer. allergy control products come in many forms and are more user friendly than ever before. If you are an allergy sufferer and have never before used allergy control products or have used them in the past and found them too expensive or unreliable then now is the time to see what progress has been made in the field of allergy control products.
Research and surveys have shown that the number of allergy sufferers world wide is on the increase. In a recent U.S. survey it was found that fifty-four percent of Americans are allergic to at least one pathogen. That’s over half of all Americans surveyed! Consumer demand has demanded better products and the industry has responded. Air purifiers were once expensive to buy, cumbersome and difficult to operate and maintain. Now though, a wide variety of less expensive and easy to maintain air purifiers are available and most importantly, they actually perform quite well.
Dust mites, human hair and shedding skin can all contribute to allergies. Many people have suffered for years not even knowing that the bed they slept in was the source of their misery. Now though allergy resistant sheets covers and pillow cases can bring relief and peaceful sleep to those who suffer from those allergies. allergy resistant fabrics also bring relief inside the home. Drapes and bed covers and carpeting are all available made entirely of allergy resistant fabrics. For allergy sufferers the fabrics that are so necessary to every day living can also bring misery. allergy resistant fabrics end the suffering.
Allergy sufferers who are chemically sensitive life can be pure hell. We live in a world of chemicals. For them the adage (better living through chemistry) is truly a farce. For many chemically sensitive people their home has become a torture chamber. Allergy resistant paint and chemicals of all sorts are now available that can free them from their misery. These products actually work very well and the money spent on these products is money invested well. The price has come down as quality has gone up on allergy resistant products. Now chemically sensitive people have the option of living a free and normal life.
If you are an allergy sufferer. No matter what you are allergic to there now is help. There is a wide range of products available and chances are there is something there you can use. Some allergy resistant products operate by helping your body cope with whatever it is you are allergic to while others effectively limit or eliminate all together whatever it is you are alergic to from your immediate environment. Many people have found it difficult to completely eliminate allergens from their whole home but have been very successful in creating an allergy safe room in their house. An allergy free zone to retreat to find relief if it is needed.
On the medical front great strides have been made in allergy relief products. A broader understanding of allergies and how pathogens effect the allergy sufferers has paved the way for new and better products. There are natural products available that for many people who have tried them appear to work. The medical establishment for years collectively scoffed at herbal remedies and now the facts speak for themselves. Herbal remedies for some people do work. It is up to each individual allergy sufferer to seek out what is best for them as there is no cure all. What works for one may not work for another but their is help out there.

The Key to Allergy Relief
Filed Under Medications | Leave a Comment
John Hilaire asked:
Allergies are a horrible thing to deal with for the normal person. There are allergies to many substances. A person can be allergic to food, medications, dogs, cats, dust, mold, grass, etc. The key to allergy relief is to prevent contact with these substances. For food allergies a person needs to avoid eating or coming into contact with any of the foods which cause the allergic reaction.
With medication allergies the key to allergy relief is to not use the medications. It is important for the person to notify there physician, pharmacist and other health care workers of the medication allergy so that it can be noted in the medical records. People who are severely allergic to dogs and cats will need to avoid homes which have these pets. If the allergy is less severe avoiding contact with the animal and the furniture the animal uses will provide allergy relief.
People with dust and mold allergies will need to keep their living and work environments clean. Also using an air filter in the home or office may provide allergy relief in this situation. Many of these tips are simple common sense and just need some careful consideration by the allergy sufferer.
Medications for Allergy Relief
For people with severe allergies there are medications on the market which can help provide allergy relief. Antihistamines are one class of medications for allergy treatment. Benadryl has been on the market for many years and has been used for prevention of allergies and treatment of allergic reactions.
Some people have found that the problem with Benadryl is that is causes drowsiness. This is okay at bedtime but difficult to deal with throughout the day. There are other allergy medications available at the local drug store. Loratadine and other medications which previously required a doctor’s prescription are now available without a prescription. These medications advertise allergy relief without drowsiness and can be taken sometimes just once a day.
If a person finds that they have asthma type reactions with their allergies a doctor may prescribe asthma medications. There are some medications available by inhaler such as Albuterol that may provide rapid relief to acute respiratory distress. When a person becomes aware that they have problems with breathing and respirations they should see a doctor as soon as possible to get an accurate diagnosis and appropriate medications for any distress that may arise.
Of course, a person should discuss all medications they are taking with their physician and should seek a physician’s advice before beginning any new medication regimen.

DEE CON JESTED asked:
So it turns out I am allergic to everything, even dust mite ****! I found a dust mite cover on ebay and am not sure if its just easier to wash my bedding once a week rather than spend money on more crap.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120226315032&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching
the dude that did my allergy testing gave me adds on what I should buy, I thought this was weird, like he gets a percentage of sales of bedding covers.
have you used these? and what do you think?

Tips to Make your Room Allergy-proof

Predrag Iljic asked:
If you are allergic to dust mites you may find this article useful. If you do not have this type of allergy – do not underestimate allergies, for example did you know that some people may be allergic to computer display screens ? Triphenyl phosphate - a chemical compound widely used as a flame retardant in the plastic of video monitors and other products - is known to cause allergic reactions in some people. The reactions can range from itching and nasal congestion to headaches.
Making your room allergy-proof is not as simple as it seems, for example some articles claim that anti allergy bedding is very efficient and some say it’s useless. The bottom line is – every little helps, so if you are serious about tackling your allergies you should go all the way and get every weapon that could reduce your exposure to dust mites.
Dust mites are abundant in almost every home, especially in bedrooms and in bedding. Pillows and mattresses can be a haven for microscopic dust mites. The average old mattress contains approximately 2 million dust mites. To reduce your exposure to dust mites encase your pillow and mattress with dust mite covers. The allergens and dust may still accumulate on the surface so wash bedding regularly and in hot water (60 degrees), dust mites may survive washings under 60C. Dust mites do not like dense structure material such as memory foam mattresses, however, there is no single proven way to get rid of dust mites so memory foam products should be considered as part of the solution only.
Dust mites thrive in areas where humidity is high so it is important to maintain the humidity level under 40% but above 25%. Air purifiers not only remove allergens such as pollen from the air, but they are also able to remove smoke, smells and bacteria. Keep in mind though that dust mites are not air borne for long time, therefore air purifiers alone will not make your bedroom allergy-proof, but it may be a very effective component of the overall battle plan. Sweeping with a regular vacuum may only redistribute allergens, you may avoid this by using a vacuum with a HEPA filter. Air conditioning has its pros and cons - it can be very helpful for people with outdoor and pollen allergies, but air conditioning also prevents natural air exchange.

My eczema is severe and seems to be worsening as I get older. I know Tn can be bad for allergies so i was just wondering what anyone has found as a better environment. i have the dust mite allergy which means humidity makes it worse, but my skin is really dry so no humidity makes that worse. Is there anywhere that I can strike a better balance? Thanks for any response.
